The popularity of blogging is pushing marketers into new terrain where moms are invaluable brand ambassadors.

Rising female consumer power is changing the rules of engagement. Studies show women do more research into purchasing decisions than men and tend to be less swayed by ads. And according to a survey by Compass Partners in the U.S., 40% of women consider blogs a reliable source of advice and information; 50% say blogs influence their purchasing decisions and 24% say they watch less TV because of blogs.

THE SOCIAL MEDIA METRICS GLOSSARY

The Internet Advertising Bureau earlier this year released a document entitled Social Media Ad Metrics Definitions. Along with traditional online metrics such as unique visitors, cost-per-unique visitor and page views, the IAB lists terms for social media and user-generated content sites. They include:

VISITS

  • Return visits: the average number of times a user to a site or application over a certain time period.
  • Interaction rate: the proportion of users who interact with an ad or application.
  • Time spent: during a specific visit or session.

New Uses for Old Things
Prevent your lunchtime salad from going soggy...

Take your travel size shampoo bottles (without the shampoo and throughly washed out ) and store your favourite salad dressing. At lunchtime, simply pour it on and toss. Crispier carrots and firmer lettuce. Ta Da!

Now that's a great idea!
