It’s the day to wax poetic on memorable moustaches. Charlie Chaplin, Tom Selleck and Frida Kahlo come to mind. And Imagination Plus’s very own Paul Dolanjski. (Although rumor has it that he cheated, getting a jump on his hair lip by starting before November 1.)
Why the focus on the celebrated ‘stache?
Today is December 1, which officially brings the month of Movember to a close. We asked the 10 members of Imagination Plus’s
prostate cancer fundraising team, Mo’stache Impossible, to look back on their 30 days of itchy lippy.
High points for team members were getting that first donation (even if it was from themselves). And the response of loved ones was heartwarming. Colin’s wife now calls him an out of work porn star. When Mike’s 18-month-old daughter sees him, she points and says “mo-mash.”
Low points, for sure, were those client meetings early in the month. And the incessant need to scratch.
Over the month,
Mo’stache Impossible raised a whopping $1,075. That’s a 4,300 per cent increase over last year’s effort, which netted the equivalent of three Big Mac Combos. (Not that they ate the proceeds in 2010. The money went straight to Movember Canada to support prostate cancer awareness and research.)
Today, talk has turned to the future. Who’s keeping the hairy visage? (Paul. So he says.) Who’s getting out the weed whacker? (Um, that’d be Matt.) Who’s still waiting for his moustache mojo to work its magic? (Too many to list, really.)
Team captain Matt says next year he’s investing in some Rogaine to encourage the team’s growth.
You know what they say: life’s an itch.
Way to grow, guys!
